COMMUNITY BENEFITS
Rotary is a worldwide voluntary organisation of men and women united in their aim to serve their communities.
Steam Rally Echuca is the annual fundraising event for the local Rotary Club of Echuca Moama. All proceeds from the event is passed on to similar not for profit or charitable causes identifies in the local community.
Each year a major beneficiary is selected:
2011 - Murray Human Services
Supporting adults with disabilities to participate as
valued members of their local community.
Funds raised from this year's Steam Rally will be used by Murray Human Services Inc. (MHS) to purchase a hoist for support staff to transfer adults with disabilities that require full support to and from wheelchairs. This will enable people with disabilities to complete daily living tasks, but also to participate in activities that many of us are able to do as a matter of course and without a second thought.
(MHS) has been providing support to people with disabilities in Echuca (formerly known as Tehan House and Kanyana Activity & Therapy Centre) since 1963. MHS now supports over 220 adults with disabilities to live in and be participating members of their local community in Echuca, Kyabram, Rochester, Cohuna, Kerang and Swan Hill.
MHS works to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities as a community service, and as part of our dedication to work in partnership with the community to eliminate barriers and promote abilities.
MHS has a vision of a society in which all people are valued and included.
